  • 500 grams ground beef
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese (or another melting cheese of your choice)
  • Butter or oil to toast the buns
  • Lettuce, tomato, onion rings, pickles (optional, for garnish)
  • Mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard (optional, for sauce)

Preparation

Here's how you prepare this recipe!


  • 1. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions of about 125 grams each.
  • 2. Heat a skillet, plancha, or frying pan over medium to high heat. It should be very hot.
  • 3. Season each portion of beef on one side with salt and pepper.
  • 4. Place a portion of beef in the hot pan, seasoned side down.
  • 5. Use a spatula or burger press to firmly press the beef flat into a thin patty, about 1 cm thick.
  • 6. Cook the burger for about 2-3 minutes, without moving, until the bottom is nicely browned and crispy.
  • 7. Carefully flip the burger and cook the other side for another 2-3 minutes, or until it is also nicely browned and cooked through.
  • 8. At the end of the cooking time, add a slice of cheddar cheese to each burger and let it melt.
  • 9. Meanwhile, cut the hamburger buns in half and toast them in the same pan with a little butter or oil until they are golden brown and crispy.

Serving:

  • 1. Assemble the Smashburgers by placing each patty on a toasted hamburger bun.
  • 2. Add optional toppings such as lettuce, tomato slices, onion rings, pickles, and sauces of your choice.
  • 3. Place the top part of the bun on top and serve the Smashburgers immediately.
