We are Joris and Isabella van Schilt, together with our rock in the surf Jax we are a very close and happy family that loves food very much!
Barbecuing started in 2011 when we moved in together. The house was not yet finished and there was already a roof in the backyard. Not much later there was an outdoor kitchen with a large thick gas barbecue! Because now that we were finally out from under the parental wings, the burgundian life began...
We certainly enjoyed ourselves, but I didn't get any further than cremating a piece of bacon or grilling a hamburger dry...
Until I started taking a Weber grill Academy course with my now good friend, Jeremy Vermolen. I was sold! The next day the gasser went on the market place and a Weber 57 took its place! The hobby and passion kept growing, unfortunately my clothing size grew with it.. but anyway,"Never trust a skinny bbqer!"
I work in metal, so after the Weber I quickly made a UDS consequence through a Rocketstove and then my first braai and infiernillo.. The combination between my work and my hobby was great so I kept tinkering!
The years passed, we moved, pledged eternal allegiance to each other and got our best recipe: Our son Jax!
In addition to the many barbecue related crafts, I also made my own rub, purely as a hobby for my own use.
This is how Braairub no.1. Friends and family were just as enthusiastic about the flavors as we were so I thought, after a lot of trying and tasting... Braairub no.2!
On 1-1-2019 I registered with the Chamber of Commerce and marketed Braairub no.1 and no.2. With the aim to let people enjoy and enthuse with this beautiful hobby! First via our own webshop, but soon followed. And now also at Beef& Steak to order!
