What is the HORL Leather Strop?

The HORL Leather Strop is designed for fine polishing your knives after sharpening with the HORL sharpeners. Using this strop makes your knife even sharper and results in a refined edge that cuts better.

The dimensions of the strop are 25 x 5 cm, and it is made from vegetable-tanned cowhide leather. This material ensures that your knife gets a professional finish after sharpening. The fine, porous surface of the leather removes even the smallest sharpening residues from the edge, leaving the knife perfectly finished.

Function of the Strop

The HORL leather strop is used as the final step in the sharpening process. The leather removes minute imperfections from the edge left after sharpening, making the edge even sharper and giving it a mirror-like finish.

Using the HORL Strop

The HORL leather strop can be used without stropping compound. The leather has a natural stropping effect, meaning you don’t need to apply any additional sharpening paste for effective results. Stropping compound is a sharpening paste that can be applied to the strop to increase its effectiveness or give a specific micron finish to your knife.

Flexibility and Support

Unlike many other strops, this HORL strop doesn’t have a hard backing. Both sides of the strop are made from leather, making the strop more flexible. This allows for applying stropping compound to the back of the strop while keeping the top clean. For optimal use, we recommend placing the strop on a hard, flat surface during stropping.
