Ingredients

For the gravy:

  • 3 dl beef broth
  • 250 grams mushrooms
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp sea salt, plus more to taste
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 tsp soy sauce

Preparation

This is how you prepare this recipe!

  • 1. In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until well combined. Shape the mixture into 4-6 oval patties, about 2 centimeters thick.
  • 2. Heat a large grill pan over medium-high heat. Add the patties and grill them for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until nicely browned. Remove the patties from the pan and set aside. They do not need to be fully cooked at this point.
  • 3. In the same pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and mushrooms and cook until they are soft and golden brown. Sprinkle the flour over the onion mixture and stir through. Cook for another minute to remove the raw flour taste.
  • 4. Then, stir in the beef broth, ensuring there are no lumps. Add the Worcestershire sauce and soy sauce. Bring the sauce to a boil and let it thicken for a few minutes.
  • 5. Taste the sauce and season with salt and pepper if needed.
  • 6. Return the patties to the pan and place them in the mushroom gravy. Cover and let simmer over low heat for about 8-10 minutes, or until the patties are fully cooked and the gravy has thickened to your liking.
  • 7. Enjoy your meal!
