This beautiful Cuban charcoal is made from the Marabu tree. These trees grow like weeds and need to be cut down to allow native crops to grow. The tree is hard and has a dense structure, making it perfect for charcoal. The pieces are coarse, though less coarse than charcoal from the Quebracho tree.
