About this product
Powerful, intense and friendly priced. This powerhouse from Puglia has beautiful complex layers and a long finish.

We selected this wine because it compliments your stew or game dish, such as deer, roe or wild boar, and takes it to an even higher level.

TASTE PROFILE: Intense and elegant earthy aromas, black, ripe fruit, candied fruit, white pepper and spices.

GRAPES: 90% Negroamaro, 10% Malvasia Nera

VINEYARD AREA: The Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera grapes are carefully selected from low-yielding vineyards in the province of Brindisi, southern Puglia.

PLANT TRAINING AND DENSITY: The vines are trained according to the Guyot and the “Alberello Pugliese” system. The planting density is approximately 5,500 plants per hectare with an average yield of 1.5 kg per plant. The plants are on average 20 to 35 years old.

HARVEST: Both grape varieties are harvested manually at the end of September.

VINIFICATION: After destemming, the grapes are not crushed, leaving them intact, reducing damage to the skins and optimizing color extraction. The two grape varieties are fermented together in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 23-25°C for 8-10 days. During fermentation, reassembly and delestage are regularly carried out to achieve a gentle extraction of aromas and soft tannins. After racking, malolactic fermentation is induced.

AGEING: After malolactic fermentation, the wine is placed in a second and third passage of 500 liter tonneaux barrels and left to mature for 12 months.

ALCOHOL: 14.5%

ABOUT THE WINERY: Winery Masseria Borgo Dei Trulli owes its name to the limestone houses that can be found in this region. The houses are built without cement and have a cone-shaped roof. And these are known as a trullo or trulli. It was founded by Luca Pomaro and winemaker Alessandro Michelon, with the premise of producing wines from indigenous grapes that express the character of the specific region where they are grown.

VINEYARD AND REGION:The Negroamaro grapes are carefully selected from low-yielding vineyards in the province of Taranto. The vines have an average age of 15 to 25 years. The grapes are harvested entirely by hand at optimal ripeness.

Smell Aromas of plum, strawberry, blackberry and black pepper on the nose. Taste In the mouth a powerful, dense red wine with lots of fruit and a soft structure in the mouth. On the one hand, the wonderful fruit, on the other hand, aromas of fresh herbs and mint provide a certain juiciness and freshness.

A good wine to combine with spicy chicken dishes or grilled vegetables. But also game, dishes with mushrooms, stews and pasta with spicy sauces taste very good with this wine.
