About this product
ABOUT THE WINERY: Doña Paula is a winery that produces quality wines. The winery was founded in 1997 in Mendoza. All vineyards are owned by Doña Paula and are located in the best parts of the country. You can taste the characteristics of the land and the terroir in all wines.
VINEYARD AND REGION: Mendoza is located very high and east of the Andes Mountains. The peaks of the Andes largely shield the vineyards. As a result, the vineyards are hardly affected by rain showers and the soil is very dry. Still, enough meltwater comes down from the mountains. The grapes grow on a combination of sand, clay and pebbles. This is a perfect combination when we talk about water absorption; the water can soak well into the ground.
VINIFICATION: The grapes are harvested manually, from the end of March to the beginning of April. Cold pre-fermentation maceration ensures the preservation of primary aromas. The must is then fermented at low temperatures. Spontaneous malolactic fermentation is carried out. The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak barrels (first, second and third use). These barrels are smoked with a unique process that gives them aromas similar to the charcoal of a typical Argentinian barbecue.
GRAPES: Bonarda, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec
ALCOHOL: 14.5%
SERVING TEMPERATURE: 16-18 degrees
CLOSING: Cork
ODOR: In the nose a particularly smoky scent in combination with candied fruit.
TASTE: Beautiful red wine with velvety flavors of red fruit, sweet spices and vanilla.
SERVING AT: Yes, what else can we say than; the ultimate barbecue wine. This wine is smoky and can therefore also have smoky flavors. Grilled meat or dishes that are well seasoned match well with this wine.
